scottish festival in Highlands Ranch with bagpipesMy family loves finding local events to attend together and this weekend will be no exception in Highlands Ranch.  A much anticipated annual event by my own daughter – the annual Colorado Scottish Festival and Rocky Mountain Highlands Games will take place in Highlands Ranch, CO this weekend.

On August 9th and 10th, Heritage Park will become a Scottish lover’s delight as some of the best area Scottish and Irish dancer descend on Highlands Ranch along with the Highlands Games, music, ancestry tracing, food, vendors & much more.  The festival is open both days from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.  A schedule of all of the events can be found here and a list of  all the types of things you will see is found here.

We have been attending the Scottish Festival for years – many of my daughter’s friends are accomplished Scottish and Irish dancers and she loves to be able to see them all perform at the same time and so close to home.  My children also really enjoy seeing the Scottish dogs agility & frisbee competitions.

The Colorado Scottish Festival and Rocky Mountain Highlands Games takes place on August 9th and 10th at Highlands Heritage Park just south of Lincoln/University at Quebec.  There will be signs all over and even shuttle transportation nearby.  Directions can be found here.

Make sure you bring your sunscreen – shade is somewhat limited.

Highlands Ranch Neighborhoods & Real Estate – Indigo Hill

April 15th, 2008 scheer Posted in Denver CO Events, Highlands Ranch 1 Comment »

Indigo Hill Highlands RanchThe Indigo Hill neighborhood is located in Highlands Ranch, CO – Douglas County.  Indigo Hill is the Southridge area of Highlands Ranch and is located at the northwest corner of Broadway and Wildcat Ridge Parkway.  It runs north about 1/4 mile and west 1/2 mile.  Here is a google map of Indigo Hill.  The zip code for the Indigo Hill neighborhood in Highlands Ranch is 80129

The homes in Indigo Hill, Highlands Ranch are built by Village Homes and were mostly built in the late 1990’s and into the early 2000’s.  The homes in the neighborhood have a wide range depending on many factors but currently range from approximately $250,000 to $550,000 (# are for single family homes).  Some of the determining price factors are size of lot, upgrades in the home, cul-de-sac location, backing to open space or the Highlands Ranch trails, and of course any mountain view possibilities.   I find these homes to be extremely appealing – many of their floor plans are extremely open with high ceilings, open areas and very large family rooms / great rooms.  They do tend to be generally well received by a variety of home buyers.

In addition to the beautiful single family homes in Indigo Hill, there is a community of town homes located at the east & south entrances called Sundance at Indigo Hill.  These town homes currently range in price from $204,000 to $250,000.

Schools:  Saddle Ranch Elementary ;   Ranch View Middle School ; ThunderRidge High School
For more information about schools visit the Douglas County School District Web site or view Colorado School Accountability Reports or the School Annual Reports

There are many recreation opportunities in Highlands Ranch and Indigo Hill has a great location with many possibilities right there.  There is very easy access to the Highlands Ranch trail system (it runs through many of the homes in this neighborhoods backyards) and is only minutes away from both the Northridge, Southridge and Westridge Recreation Centers.  Nearby parks are maintained by the Highlands Ranch Metro Districts.  The Tanks Park is one of the nearby park that is maintained by Metro Districts and is a very popular skate park.  In the warmer weather months, outdoor inline hockey games also take place here.

Indigo Hill is a part of the covenant community of Highlands Ranch, governed by the Highlands Ranch Community Association.  Indigo Hill also has a secondary HOA, providing the community with additional amenities, including a private neighborhood community pool.  In addition there is also a community playground that is separate form the rest of the parks in Highlands Ranch and maintained separately instead of by the Highlands Ranch Metro Districts.

Shopping is also plentiful from Indigo Hill - - grocery & other shopping are less than 5 minutes away at the Westridge King Soopers or the Town Center Safeway shopping centers and additional the entire Town Center Area is very close by as well..  These shopping centers include Michaels, Hallmark, Tattered Cover, various salons, Home Depot, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Office Max, Walgreens and much more) and there are many restaurants nearby as well.  The Highlands Ranch Library is also very conveniently located and is extremely close to Indigo Hills.

In addition, with easy access to C470 at the Broadway exit, Park Meadows Mall is only about 12 minutes away from this part of Highlands Ranch, CO.

Indigo Hill is approximately a 40 – 45 minute commute from Denver International Airport.

Commuting from this Highlands Ranch neighborhood is a breeze – with a straight shot up Broadway or easy access to Santa Fe and University towards down town, or just minutes to the RTD bus commuting center.  It is only moments from the Broadway entrance to C470, providing easy access to the entire DTC area, Meridian, Lockheed plant and more.
